FORT WAYNE, Ind.- In a riveting matchup at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse, the Chicago Crush Elite emerged victorious against the Motor City Gamblers with a 4-2 win, showcasing their resilience and determination in the 2023 USPHL Midwest Showcase. The high-stakes clash lived up to expectations, leaving fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer.

The first period set the tone for the game, with Leo Riani scoring a buzzer-beater at 19:59, assisted by Austin Kessel and Joseph Coglianese. The goal not only gave the Crush an early lead but also served as a testament to their offensive prowess. The period was marked by intense play, with Touchton of the Gamblers earning a penalty for hooking, and Marcella for roughing.


The second period witnessed the Motor City Gamblers responding with a goal from Shaul at 3:20, leveling the score. The period remained penalty-free, but both teams demonstrated tight defensive play, setting the stage for a decisive third period.


In the final frame, the Crush exploded with offensive firepower. Niko Dougan, with his fourth of the season at 5:38, restored the Crush's lead. Jaden Yuknis added to the tally at 11:43, assisted by Logan Fernandes, showcasing the Crush's depth in scoring. The Gamblers fought back, with Touchton finding the net at 18:20, narrowing the gap.

With the game hanging in the balance, Jaden Yuknis sealed the victory for the Crush with an empty-net goal at 19:41, assisted by Cole Darlas and Will Soldano. The final scoreline of 4-2 highlighted the Crush's ability to capitalize on opportunities and close out games effectively.


Despite the intensity on the ice, neither team capitalized on power-play opportunities, emphasizing the disciplined and even-handed nature of the contest.


Goaltender Tyler Siuda was a rock for the Crush, making 21 saves on 23 shots, and picking up his first win of the season. Meanwhile for Motor City, Houle faced 22 shots and made 19 saves for the Gamblers.
