LOCKPORT, IL - In the world of junior hockey, there’s "good," there’s "great," and then there’s the absolute buzzsaw that is the 2025-26 Chicago Crush Elite.

When the dust settled on the USPHL regular season, the Crush didn't just sit at the top of the mountain; they owned the mountain, the valley, and everything in between. Finishing first overall with a staggering 39-3-2 record, Coach Phil Bushbacher’s squad turned the Elite

division into their personal playground, racking up 80 points and a goal differential that looks like a typo: 216 goals for, and a microscopic 60 against.

To put that in perspective: they scored nearly four times as often as they gave up a goal. If you stepped onto the ice against Chicago this year, you weren't just playing a game—you were entering a 60-minute survival horror movie.

The Chicago Crush Streak and the Standard

Consistency is the hardest thing to find in junior sports, yet the Crush treated it like a fundamental right. They put together a legendary 20-game win streak mid-season, a run that effectively broke the spirit of the Midwest Division. And for those wondering if they’d coast into the postseason? Forget it. They closed the year on a 9-game heater, proving that this team has two speeds: fast and "get out of the way."

The Engines of the Offense

You don’t put up 216 goals without some serious high-end weaponry. Niko Dougan and Giovanni Rizzo were absolute nightmares for opposing defensemen, combining elite vision with a finishing touch that felt automatic. Whether it was Rizzo finding space in the circles or Dougan orchestrating from the half-wall, the scoring never stopped.

Then you have Alex Yakimenka and Brandon Herschbach, two guys who embodied the "Crush" mantra. They played heavy, they played fast, and they made sure the scoreboard operator earned their paycheck. And let’s talk about the Adolfino brothers. If there’s a loose puck in the corner, bet your house on an Adolfino coming out with it. Their blue-collar work ethic and relentless forecheck provided the grind that allowed the skill players to shine.

At the heart of it all was Team Captain Ramsey Paullo. A captain in more than just name, Paullo stabilized the back end and provided the leadership necessary to keep a locker room focused during a 20-game win streak. Alongside him, Hunter Pope blossomed into a defensive stalwort, shutting down top lines and kickstarting the transition game with surgical precision.

But perhaps the most terrifying part of this team? You never knew who you were going up against in the crease. Coach Bushbacher employed a "Goalie by Committee"strategy that would make most coaches sweat, but for the Crush, it was a masterclass. By keeping his netminders fresh and competitive, Bushbacher ensured that no matter who was between the pipes, they were playing at an All-Star level. Allowing only 60 goals over 44 games isn't just a stat—it's a tribute to the system and the men executing it.

The Bushbacher Blueprint

At the helm of this juggernaut is Coach Phil Bushbacher. In a league where talent is often fleeting, Bushbacher has built a culture of excellence in Chicago. He didn't just recruit players; he recruited a team that buys into the 200-foot game. The 39 wins are a credit to the players, but the discipline to allow only 60 goals? That’s pure coaching.

The regular season is over, and the Chicago Crush Elite have officially put the USPHL on notice. They have the stats, they have the stars, and they have the momentum. Now, they're looking for the one thing that matters more than 80 points: a trophy

If the regular season was any indication, betting against them, moving froward, would be a very, very bad idea.
